L’ICBIE OFFRE UN NUOVO CORSO

Con i nuovi arrivi all’Istituto arrivano anche nuove iniziative. Qualche settimana prima dell’arrivo della nostra socia e sostenitrice Consuelo avevamo giá conosciuto Samantha, una ragazza francese che sta vivendo qui a Salvador ed esperta in massaggi e tecniche di rilassamento che ci aveva proposto di sviluppare un piccolo progetto di sostegno a donne “in difficoltá”. Ci é subito venuto in mente di affiancarla a Consuelo e dalle due menti operative, creative e professionali é nato il  CURSO DE EDUCAÇAO E BEM ESTAR DAS MULHERES.

Un corso che oltre a prevedere dinamiche e comunicazione di gruppo, prevede tecniche di rilassamento, massaggi e tutto quello che contribuisce al benessere delle donne. Il corso é gratuito e ci sembra un ottimo strumento per contribuire alla crescita dell’auto stima delle donne bahiane che vivono spesso situazioni familiari, sociali ed economiche a dir poco difficili.

O curso e dedicado as mulheres da todas as idade e proveniência, que querem partilhar experiências e sentimentos com outras pessoas. Os objetivos do curso são: desenvolver estratégias de apoio, procurar potencialidades para enfrentar as dificuldades, criar relações de suporte, evitar o isolamento, reduzir o stress psicológico e traumático, promover a auto estima e levar a um bom ajustamento social. Para isso, serão ensinadas técnicas de relaxamento e de comunicação em grupo.

O curso e gratuito e será conduzido por três educadoras:

• Anna Consuelo Cerichelli, italiana, psicóloga, trabalha para os serviços sociais italianos, em particular com famílias multiproblematicas das áreas periféricas de Roma.
• Samantha Tavares, francesa, especialista em técnicas de massagem thai, fez varias experiências de voluntariado internacional em diversas realidades sociais.
• Valdenice Santana, brasileira, professora do ensino básico, voluntária social do ICBIE.

Carga horária total: 8 horas
Dias: terças – inicio: 04/08/09 – conclusão: 25/08/09
Quintas – inicio: 06/08/09 – conclusão: 27/08/09

With the arrival of new people come new initiatives.  A few weeks before the arrival of our supporter Consuelo, we had already got to know Samantha, a French girl who is living here in Salvador and is a massage expert and familiar with relaxation techniques.  She proposed the development of a small project aimed at supporting women in difficult situations, and we automatically thought of teaming her with Consuelo, who had similar professional intentions.  Together, they have planned a WELLNESS TRAINING COURSE FOR WOMEN. 

It is a course that, besides providing group dynamics and communication, will teach relaxation techniques, massages, and everything that contributes to the wellness of women.  The course is given free of charge and we feel that it is a perfect way to help to raise the self-esteem of Bahian women, who often have to face great challenges, socially, economically, and in their families.

Dedicated to women of all creeds and backgrounds who wish to exchange experiences and feelings with others, the course objectives intend to outline support strategies, to reinforce the ability to confront difficulties, to create support networks, to avoid isolation, to reduce psychological or traumatic stress, to raise self-esteem and to foster a better social adjustment.  In addition, relaxation techniques and group therapy will be taught.

This free course will be conducted by three instructors:

• Anna Consuelo Cerichelli, Italian, psychologist, works for the Italian social service, in particular, with multi-problematical families from the periphery of Rome.
• Samantha Tavares, French, specialist in Thai massage techniques with diverse experiences in International voluntary service, in different social realities.
• Valdenice Santana, Brazilian, elementary school teacher and ICBIE social volunteer.

Total class time: 8 hours

Days: Wednesdays, from 04/08/09 to 25/08/09
Thursdays, from 06/08/09 to 27/08/09
Time: 5 to 7 PM

Thanks to our faithful Roberto, here are some great photos of the fourth ICBIE night on the beach, which took place last Saturday night (July 24th) at the Porto di Enea, Capocotta, where the Escola de Samba Roma-Rio turned out to be a real revelation, giving a rousing performance that had everybody on their feet.

We didn’t make a lot of money during these evenings, but we were happy to provide an opportunity for our supporters to get together.  We made plenty of new friends and spread the ICBIE gospel.

And there’s MORE!

It just so happens that our favorite musician in Salvador is coming to Rome next week with his band!  Fred Menendez has already been to Italy, as he has performed at the famous Busker’s Festival in Ferrara, and he’s back to do it again.  But while he’s in Rome, we’ve organized two concerts for him, on Saturday and Sunday, August 8th and 9th.

More details will be coming soon, but Sunday’s concert is particularly interesting, because it will be part of a big city-sponsored event, the Noche de Roma (http://www.nochederoma.com). Stay tuned!

SABATO 25 LUGLIO A MASSARANDUBA

Un altro incontro - confronto per l’ICBIE grazie al lavoro ed ai contatti del gruppo dei nostri amici graffitari. Sabato 25 luglio io e Consuelo abbiamo conosciuto il GRUCON - Grupo de união e Consciência  negra - in Massaranduba, uno dei quartieri in cui operano Julio ed i suoi amici della Nova 10 Ordem.

La GRUCON é stata ben contenta di offrire i suoi spazi per l’atelier di disegno che i graffittari offriranno a partire da lunedi prossimo nell’ambito del progetto Oficina de Rua.

Il gruppo ha una storia antica, nato come MEFE (movimento per l’evangelizzazione o qualcosa di simile) é da circa 23 anni GRUCON per accogliere la numerosa comunitá negra che vive in questo quartiere e difenderne la tradizione e la cultura oltre che offrire un prezioso lavoro sociale soprattutto ai bambini dell’area.

Come spesso succede in queste realtá con il solo contributo minimo delle persone del posto che ci credono, senza appoggio e senza sostegno da istituzioni ufficiali, da organi del governo il Grucon cerca di organizzare attivitá per i bambini per offrire loro un’alternativa alla vita di strada che spesso mette i bambini in diverse situazioni di rischio. Organizzano pertanto aule di capoeira, di percussioni e incontri periodici per discutere, parlare di cio che succcede nel quartiere stesso.

Domenica 26 al Grucon c’é stata la sua stessa festa di compleanno e sabato i nostri amici graffittari - artisti di strada che come tali hanno il contatto con la strada e con chi ci vive - hanno realizzato colorati e significativi graffiti per rendere piú variopinta la sede, nel loro stile: volontariamente, con le loro tinte, con la convinzione della loro azione sociale, con la volontá ed il desiderio di fare qualcosa per la loro stessa comunitá.. La giornata é servita anche a divulgare l’officina di disegno per i ragazzini dai 12 ai 17 anni che hanno risposto giá entusiasticamente iscrivendosi per lo meno in una quindicina alle officine stesse. Speriamo che anche questi laboratori di disegno contribuiscano a rendere in piccola parte migliore la vita di questi ragazzini che durante tutta la giornata ci hanno regalato sorrisi ed emozioni.

E´stata una giornata ricca di emozioni e di partecipazione della comunitá, (ancora una volta grazie a Julio, Jodson, Marcos, Iel e Bigode)…io come al solito sono tornata a casa con nel cuore sentimenti contrastanti. Da una parte la gioia di aver vissuto una giornata giocando e sorridendo con questi bambini, dall’altra la consapevolezze del limite delle nostre azioni, un pó il senso di impotenza davanti a situazioni tanto difficili e complesse….e questa é solo una delle tante.

L’importante é comunque fare, anche un graffito come sanno bene gli amici della Nova10Ordem.

Another face to face encounter for the ICBIE, thanks to the work and the contacts of our group of graffiti friends.  On Saturday, July 25th, Consuelo and I were introduced to the GRUCON - Grupo de união e Consciência negra, or “Group for Unity and Black Conscience” - in Massaranduba, one of the neighborhoods where Julio and his friends from Nova 10 Ordem operate.

The GRUCON was particularly happy to offer its facilities for a drawing workshop that the graffiti artists will be offering, starting next Monday, as a part of the Oficina de Rua project.

The GRUCON has a long history: born as the MEFE (Movement for Evangelism, or something similar), it became GRUCON about 23 years ago, as a meeting place for the large Black community that lives in the area, to defend its culture and traditions, besides offering a needed center for social work for the area’s children.

As often happens in these situations, the only real contributions come from local people who believe in the project, but without any support from ufficial institutions or from the government.  The GRUCON attempts to organize activities for children, to offer them an alternative to the many dangers of life on the streets.  They run classes of capoeira and of percussion, but also periodic meetings, where citizens can discuss their lives in the neighborhood.

On Sunday, the 26th, it was GRUCON’s birthday celebration and our graffiti friends - street artists who by nature have an innate feel for the place - made their colorful and meaningful graffiti works, in order to make the center more lively, in their own way: of their own free will, with their bright colors, with the conviction of their social work, with the will and the desire to do something for their own community.   The day was useful also to spread the word about the drawing workshop for kids from age 12 to 17, and they immediately got fired up, with at least fifteen kids signing up for the workshop.   We hope that the workshops will help, even in some small way, to improve the lives of these kids, who, all day long, were so generous with their smiles and affection.

It was a day full of emotions and community involvement, (another big thank you to Julio, Jodson, Marcos, Iel and Bigode), and for me, as usual, I went away with mixed feelings in my heart.  On one side, the joy of having lived a whole day, laughing and playing with these kids, but on the other, the awareness of the limits of our actions, almost a sense of impotence, against the backdrop of such difficult and complex situations… and this is only one of many.

Maybe it’s best to just get to work, even just to make a graffiti, as our friends from Nova10Ordem know so well.

Cine Fórum ICBIE exibe filmes gratuitos na Cidade Baixa

Os participantes contam ainda com debate apresentado pelo professor Pietro Gallina

O Instituto Cultural Brasil Itália Europa inicia mais uma temporada do Cine Fórum ICBIE, com exibição de filmes que envolvem temas ligados à política, história, arte e comédia, com apresentação do Professor Pietro Gallina, seguido de debate ao final do filme. A primeira exibição aberta ao público acontece no dia 31 de julho, às 19h, com o filme O grande ditador, famoso filme em que Charlie Chaplin faz o papel satírico de Adolf Hitler. Já para os estudantes da língua italiana ou para aqueles que conheçam o idioma, o Cine Fórum irá exibir no dia 30 de julho, às 17h, o filme Il Ciclone de Leonardo Pieraccioni.

Nas sextas de agosto serão exibidos os filmes: The Cocoanuts dos irmãos Marx; Pergunte-me se Estou Feliz de Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo; Festim Diabolico e Janela Indiscreta de A. Hitchcock; com legenda em português para os filmes que não forem nacionais. Já nas quintas serão exibidos os filmes italianos: Puerto Escondido de Gabriele Salvatores; Il Caiamano de Nanni Moretti e Gomorra de Matteo Garrone.

A idéia central do Cine Fórum é promover debates em torno de temas específicos extraídos dos filmes. Uma atividade voltada ao conhecimento, que associa a critica cinematográfica ao debate de temas recorrentes da atualidade, além de fatos históricos.

Os filmes em italianos serão exibidos todas as quintas-feiras, às 17h, para estudantes da língua italiana ou que já conheçam o idioma, e as sextas, às 19h, para a comunidade em geral, na sede do ICBIE na Rua Porto dos Tainheiros, 36, (próximo ao Clube Vitória de Remo), no bairro da Ribeira. O Cine Fórum é gratuito.

The ICBIE Cineforum offers free cinema in the Cidade Baixa

The participants will be offered the opportunity to debate the films, presented by Pietro Gallina

The Institute of Culture Brazil Italy Europe is initiating its Cineforum once again, with the projection of films that deal with themes regarding politics, history, the arts and comedy, with a presentation by  Professor Pietro Gallina, followed by a debate at the end of the showing.  The first appointment open to the public will take place on the 31st of July at 7 PM, with the film The Great Dictator, where Charlie Chaplin satirizes Adolf Hitler.  Before that, the Italian language students and others who understand Italian will see the film Il Ciclone, by Leonardo Pieraccioni, on the 30th of July at 5 PM.

On Fridays during the month of August, the following films will be shown:   The Coconuts by the Marx Brothers; Chiedimi se sono felice by Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo; Rope and Rear Window by A. Hitchcock; with subtitles in Portuguese for foreign films.   Thursdays will be dedicated to Italian films:  Puerto Escondido by Gabriele Salvatores; Il Caiamano by Nanni Moretti and Gomorra by Matteo Garrone.

The central idea of the Cineforum is to promote debates on specific themes taken from the films.  This activity is intended as a way of learning that associates film criticism with a debate on recurring themes of real life and of historic events.

The films in Italian will be shown every Thursday at 5 PM for the students of Italian or for those who already understand the language, and every Friday at 7 PM for the general public, in the seat of the ICBIE in Rua Porto dos Tainheiros, 36, (across the street from the Vitoria Sailing Club), in the Ribeira district.  Admission is free.

In questi giorni abbiamo definito la programmazione dei corsi che si svolgeranno presso l’ICBIE a Salvador a partire dal 15 agosto e fino ai mesi di ottobre/novembre 2009.

La programmazione é ricca e nutrita grazie ai fondi raccolti attraverso le generose offerte ricevute dall’ICBIE per la grande raccolta dello scorso Natale, quando tutti i nostri soci e sostenitori si sono mobilitati per garantire il proseguimento delle attivitá dell’Istituto.

In the last few days we finished scheduling the courses that will be held at the ICBIE from the 15th of August through the months of October and November, 2009.

The curriculum is rich and varied, thanks to the funds that we received through the generous donations from the campaign last Christmas, when all of our members and supporters came together to assure the continuation of the Institute’s activities.

Furthermore, some courses were made possible thanks to the contributions of the IV Circolo Elementary School of Verbania, that, through our friend Maddalena, has been a long time supporter of our activities.

Thanking everyone who has donated, once again, in order that the invaluable activities of the ICBIE continue to be offered in the coming months to the community of Ribeira and its environs, we are proud to announce the official opening of registration for the following courses:

No summer doldrums for the ICBIE community in Rome!  This weekend, two separate events, one in the city and one on the beach, will continue to bring our people together.

On Friday night, there’s a benefit concert to support the project of two ICBIE volunteers who will be traveling to Salvador next month.  This brainchild of Tess and Sabi, The Story Instinct, is a unique course designed specifically for ICBIE students,  combining writing, drawing, acting, music, dance, film and photography, to enable the students to vividly recount their experiences.  The girls are raising funds to purchase equipment and materials for this exciting project, and Friday’s event is the culmination of their efforts, offering a cornucopia of musical delights at the Barnum Café, a trendy locale near Campo de’ fiori, at Via del Pellegrino, 87, from 7 PM to 2 AM.  An incredible lineup of emerging Roman musicians will animate the evening, with Gianmarco Dottori, Nathalie, Vittorio Pagano, Luca Bellanova, Elisa Pezzuto, Sgabellos, Dario Chiricozzi, Francesca Bei, Diego Marchesi, Glover, Giulia Fattorini and A.W.I., among others!  Admission is free and drinks will have a €2 surcharge that will go to The Story Instinct.  There will also be an auction of demos and discs of the artists.

On Saturday night, it’s back to the beach, to Porto di Enea (Capocotta) for the fourth consecutive ICBIE party, this time presenting the group Escola de Samba Roma-Rio and DJAmião.

Sabato 18 luglio altra giornata intensa e movimentata all’ICBIE: l’ultima lezione di samba che Greta ha frequentato per una settimana con la nostra Patrícia (figlia di Mestre Pedro) – solo sabato ospite della lezione la nuova arrivata Consuelo - e la chiusura del corso di disegno con una interessante esposizione dei lavori degli alunni del corso stesso.

Abbiamo salutato Greta che é ritornata in Italia proprio sabato scorso: il suo contributo alle attivitá dell’ICBIE é stato utile nell’impostazione di diversi progetti ed in particolare, come rappresentante ARCI di Reggio Emilia, Greta ha potuto constatare di persona il funzionamento e le attivitá del progetto “Oficina de Rua”.

Consuelo é arrivata la settimana scorsa ed é pronta a dare il suo contributo alle attivitá dell’ICBIE, sta, inoltre, organizzando un corso di “Educação ao bem-estar das mulheres” – un corso offerto alle donne per educarle al loro benessere psico – físico.

Ma l’evento centrale della giornata di sabato 18 luglio é stata la chiusura dei corsi del primo semestre, quello di italiano con la presenza delle giovani allieve Lhaise, Daniela, Taiani, Taieni, ecc, e quello di disegno. Lê opere esposte dagli allievi sono la testimonianza del loro impegno e della loro capacitá artística sapientemente messa in evidenza dal lavoro del valido insegnante Geisel e tutto il pubblico partecipante há mostrato il suo apprezzamento.

La mattinata si é conclusa com uno squisito buffet offerto dagli allievi stessi del corso, non prima di aver ascoltato il nostro Pietro che há ringraziato tutti per l’impegno dimostrato augurandosi che simili attivitá continuino con lo stesso successo presso il nostro ICBIE.

E proprio in questi giorni siamo impegnati con la programmazione dei corsi del prossimo semestre e l’apertura delle iscrizioni per gli stessi – a breve vi comunicheró il calendario completo!!!!

Saturday, July 18th was another busy and eventful day at the ICBIE: the last samba lession that Greta took for a week with our friend Patricia (the daughter of Mestre Pedro), together with the newly arrived Consuelo, and the conclusion of the drawing class, with an interesting exposition of the students’ work.

We saluted Greta, who departed for Italy later that day: her contribution to ICBIE activities helped to organize diverse projects and, in particular, as a representative of ARCI in Reggio Emilia, Greta was able to directly monitor the functions and the activities of the “Oficina de Rua” project.

Consuelo arrived last week and she is ready to contribute her energy to the ICBIE activities.  She is organizing a course called “Educação ao bem-estar das mulheres” – a seminar offered for women, in order to develop their psycho-physical wellness.

Nonetheless, the central event of the day was the culmination of the first semester for both the Italian classes—with the participation of Lhaise, Daniela, Taiani, Taieni, etc.—and the drawing class.  Their exposition, enthusiastically received by the public, was a vivid testimonial of their hard work and their undeniable artistic talent, and it showcased the fine mentoring of their teacher Geisel.

The morning finished with an exquisite buffet, offered by the students themselves, prefaced by Pietro’s speech, where he thanked everyone for their dedication, in the hope that future students will be able to reap the same benefits from their ICBIE experience.

And speaking of the future, we are currently working on the schedule for the second semester and the opening of registration.  The complete calendar will be announced soon!!!!

Invio con tanto ritardo ma con la gioia nel cuore le prime foto di Diego, le invio alla mia famiglia di appartenenza, ce n’è sempre una di origine e una di appartenenza di famiglia, per questo mi piace pensare che il mio piccolo campione ha tutti voi per zii cugini madri padri e tutto quello che vorrete essere per lui.

Ringrazio tutti proprio tutti voi che mi avete chiamato, sostenuto e mandato il vostro pensiero, addirittura il suo benvenuto sul blog…per me è stata una grande forza sentirvi così vicini…

mi piace pensare che diego sarà uno di noi, che avrà sempre voglia di movimento, di spostare il suo punto di vista, di cercare di spingersi sempre più avanti e qualche volta anche lontano per trovare qualcosa di bello per cui lottare, forse per una comunicazione più diretta più facile più vera…tutto quello che noi dell’icbie andiamo cercando continuamente nella nostra voglia di essere in mezzo alla gente…

avrei voluto mandarvi prima il mio abbraccio ma solo ora riesco a collegarmi e non potrò essere tanto presente da ora fino a fine agosto, mando un in bocca al lupo gigante a consuelo per la partenza a salvador e un abbraccio particolare a loona…per tutto

Belatedly, but with a heart full of joy, I send the first photos of Diego, and I send them to my ICBIE family.  There is always a blood family and an extended one, and for that reason I like to think that my little champ has all of you for aunts, uncles, cousins, mothers and fathers, plus anything else that you want to be for him.

I thank everyone who has called, supported and sent their good wishes, even for the big welcome on the blog… for me it was a great source of strength to feel you all so close…

I like to think that Diego will be one of us, that he will always want to move, to change his viewpoint, to try to push himself ever forward and even far away, in order to find the things worth fighting for, perhaps in order to communicate more directly, more easily and more truthfully… everything that we at the ICBIE are always trying to accomplish in society…

I wanted to send my embraces earlier but only now can I get online and I won’t be able to be too active until the end of August.  I send my best wishes to Consuelo for her departure for Salvador and a special hug to Loona… for everything.

I NOSTRI OSPITI ALL’ICBIE

Le nostre affezionate amiche di Verbania sono venute anche quest’anno a trovarci portando con sé la loro proverbiale allegria e spirito di coinvolgimento e offrendo il loro sostegno alle attivitá ICBIE.

Mercoledi 1 luglio hanno meravigliosamente coinvolto gli studenti di italiano in una divertente ed appetitosa lezione di gastronomia italiana preparando diverse e saporitissime pizze!!!!! Gli studenti oltre ad apprezzare l’insegnamento linguistico hanno molto apprezzato le squisite pizze preparate dalle esperte mani di Maddalena.

Le nostre amiche hanno portato dall’Italia a nome anche della Scuola Elementare IV Circolo di Verbania diverso materiale di consumo per i nostri corsi, in particolare per quello di disegno. Proprio le lezioni di disegno, anche grazie al sostegno ed aiuto della scuola di Verbania, potranno ssere realizzate anche nel prossimo semestre. Grazie a nome di tutto l’ICBIE ed in particolare dei nostri giovani promettenti artisti (vedere le loro opere per crederci!)!!!!!

Il corso di disegno di questo semestre si concluderá sabato 18 luglio con una esposizione qui all’ICBIE che documenteremo nel prossimo articolo, ma intanto, sabato scorso gli allievi del corso insieme a quelli del corso intermedio di italiano hanno voluto indossare le magliette portate dall’Italia da Maddalena ed Elisa per regalare un sorriso ed un saluto a tutti gli appassionati lettori del nostro blog e ringraziare in particolare le nostre amiche!

I disegni alle spalle dei nostri allievi, sono invece quelli che gli alunni dell’I.C. Marco Polo di Roma hanno realizzato per inviare il loro saluto agli studenti di italiano dell’ICBIE, per mezzo di Giuseppina Ferri – insegnante di Scuola Elementare a Roma ed ospite per alcuni giorni presso il nostro Istituto. Giuseppina, ripartita per l’Italia proprio ieri, ha riportato ai suoi alunni in Italia le cartoline ed i disegni che i nostri studenti in Brasile hanno scritto per loro. Ancora un utile e prezioso interscambio culturale!

Our dear friends from Verbania have come to visit again this year, bringing their proverbial joy and their spirit of involvement, while offering their support of the ICBIE activities.

On Wednesday, July 1st, they brought the Italian students together for an enjoyable lesson in Italian cuisine, preparing a variety of different and delicious pizzas!!!!!  The students, besides appreciating the linguistic exercise, loved the exquisite pizzas, prepared by Maddelena’s expert hands.

Our friends also brought various materials donated by the IV Circle Elementary School of Verbania for our courses, and, in particular, for the drawing course.  Because of their support, the drawing lessons will also be offered during the next semester.  A big thank you from everyone at the ICBIE, and especially from our young and promising artists (and when you see their work, you will understand better!)!!!!!

This semester’s drawing class will finish on Saturday, July 18th, with an exposition here at the ICBIE that will be reported in a future article, but, in the meantime, last Saturday the students, together with the members of the Intermediate Italian course, wanted to model the t-shirts that Maddalena and Elisa brought from Italy, to offer a big smile and greetings to all the faithful readers of our blog and to thank our friends!

The drawings on the blackboard were made by the students of the Marco Polo school of Rome, as a greeting to the ICBIE Italian students, and they were brought by an elementary teacher named Giuseppina Ferri, who is a guest at our Institute for a few days.  Giuseppina departed yesterday for Italy, and she took with her the postcards and drawings that our students in Brazil made for them.  Yet another useful and precious cultural exchange!

Last Saturday night, ICBIE Europa celebrated its second July bash on the beach at Capocotta, this time featuring the great Roman percussion group Akuna Matata.  The crowd was even bigger than the week before, and our great team, including Loona, Paolo, Damiano, Roberto, Pina, Gianfranco and Marco, had their work cut out, as they enthusiastically spread the ICBIE gospel.

The next appointment is for this Saturday, July 18, always at Porto di Enea at Capocotta, and this time te featured group will be the Trio do Brio.  See you there!
